Let’s be honest here, it’s not the best time to be starting new super-sized projects in the United States. Every one of Donald Trump’s towers seems to be going bankrupt and every respected newspaper seems to be on the verge of going out of business.
But CEO Anthony Marnell III isn’t bothered. He’s given a big middle finger to the recession by building a billion-dollar resort spa and casino in Las Vegas called the M Resort, Spa and Casino.
And don’t try and kill his high with talk of Vegas’ recent struggles with tourism, Marnell thinks M has the skills to build up a steady clientele.
“I do feel good that I don't have to fill 3,000 of them every night, because that would be a daunting challenge that the Strip is facing right now,” Marnell told The Associated Press. “I think that we can carve out our little tiny niche down here with this product.”
Along with its 390 rooms, the 90-acre resort touts nine restaurants, including a buffet that throws in beer and wine in its price! No wonder Marnell thinks he can keep customers coming back.
“I believe the M Resort has a lot to offer tourists and Las Vegas locals and exceptional service is at the top of the list,” said Marnell. “The M has been laid out very differently than other Strip resorts and local casinos. Every detail has been thought about over and over again. We are confident the M will raise the bar for resort-casinos and express the future of the industry.”
If the CEO plans on making some real cash M needs to have a proper casino. Luckily he’s created a gaming experience that is already being considered the best in Vegas.
The resort offers nearly 1,900 of the newest and most popular slots, a 12-table poker room, 64 table games including Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Mini Baccarat and Pai Gow. Dealers are actually assigned to tables for a month, making it easy for players to find a familiar face (or the dealer they fleeced a couple of days earlier).
And don’t think because M is a new hotspot that there’s no bonuses for casino customers. At the heart of the M Resort casino floor is a gaming area known as the Jewelry Box. Slots in this area give out jewels like emeralds, rubies, sapphires and diamond that represent different payouts.
“"There are 124 machines that randomly reward up to $5,000 to players,” said Rich Strafella, Vice President of Casino Operations.
Try finding a better hookup than that during these tough times.
“The value has to be there, it has to be consistent through the business model and the life cycle because that's what builds the loyalty over time,” Marnell explained. “I think that it'll do well by you in both bad times and in good.”
