Hot Vegas Deals: Fly-Back Certificates?
by Bodog Casino | May 7 2009
Oh sweet, sinful
Las Vegas, Nevada, what has happened to your bottomless pit of wealth?
You've always been looked upon as the one place that would be untouched physically and financially by anything short of a nuclear holocaust. Even then we still think that giant light shinning from the Luxor would be turned on.
So how did the bad economy hit you so bad that you're hemorrhaging cash like Mike Tyson at a
strip club? How is your tourism industry beginning to look more like Montana's than Hawaii's?
We doubt any Vegas owner can truly give us a straight answer to these questions, but we do know they've been taking steps to hydrate the drought.
First, believe it or not they're still building. There's an $8 billion City Centre being built in Sin City and Steve Wynn just put up the Encore resort next to the Wynn.
Second, they're trying some publicity stunts like hosting the annual NHL awards ceremony on June 18 and they've asked for President Barrack Obama to visit Vegas to "do a lot to help overcome the perception that President Obama finds
visiting Las Vegas somehow offensive."
Third they plan on giving some primo deals on flights and hotels. And we're not just talking some last-minute $79 hookups through Southwest Airlines, we're talking packages and even cash-back promos. In fact they're doing it already. Take this deal at Mandalay Bay from Cheapflights.com: from now through Sept. 10, book the Summer Escape package and receive a $350 Las Vegas flight credit toward a future trip, as well as a $100 cabana credit and $25 in Sand Dollars, to be spent at Mandalay Bay's famous water park and pool area. They're giving away free money for booking trips!
Here's another deal: for those who love Las Vegas, sign up for a gaming card at your resort, even if you don't gamble very often. The resort will send you sweet deals throughout the year. It's kind of like being on a email list for sweet deals at an
online casino.
Vegas will be making a big effort to break even by the end of 2009, we suggest you do your best to take advantage of this. In fact, we're going to look into getting some tickets ourselves. ;)
