Another Reason to Play Online: Bogus ATMs

It's starting to become apparent that in order to enjoy safe and secure betting you have to do it online.
We live in a desperate, dangerous age where people are looking to exploit others in any way possible. People are using iPhone apps to help them count cards at tables, others are stalking pro athletes and attacking them for cash, and now it appears not even bank machines are safe.
A hacker attending the Las Vegas DefCon conference over the weekend discovered a fake ATM that was ripping off users. That's right; you have to watch out for ATMs in Vegas now.
The fake machine was found near the Riviera Hotel and Casino and to the naked eye looked like any Vegas ATM that would charge you $5 per transaction.
But on closer inspection by an expert, in this case DefCon 17 organizer "Priest", the machine was an obvious fake.
"This is a very common scam," Priest told Forbes Magazine. "At gas stations, this happens a lot."
Priest realized the ATM screen had a shell without a bank name and that the machine's screen was darker than normal. He eventually discovered a computer behind the screen instead of a camera and determined that the PC was recording the PINs of unsuspecting users.
This kind of illegal activity is becoming more apparent in the outside world, as those that are technologically sound are looking to prey on those who still hate using Interac and generally lack knowledge about the fraud that can be committed at bank machines today.
For this reason gaming online is beginning to look more and more like a cheaper, safer alternative to enjoying gambling.
While successful live casino players have to watch for people looking to rob them after they cash out, whale watchers looking to pick their pockets and prostitutes looking to charm them out of their chips, online gamers just have to make sure no one else in their home have their account number and password.
Technology has progressed to a point where it's becoming safer to hold your cash in an
online gambling account than it is to have it at Fort Knox. To this day Bodog.com accounts have never been hacked.
This current situation definitely won't help Vegas' slowing economy. Sin City has been losing customers gradually for some time now, and with a recession people would rather pick up and play some
Blackjack safely online than having to put aside cash for a flight and hotel while preparing for fraudulent machines and people.
