Best of Vegas Part XVII: Sweet Suites

by Jake Gosselin | Jul 25 2007

Suites in Las Vegas make great locations for wedding receptions, bar mitzvahs and orgies. While only the wealthy could possibly afford one as a private hotel room, the rest of us can make great use of these temporary cribs of the rich and famous by pitching-in together for a single night of insanity.

Swank suites are available in almost all of the decent hotels in Vegas, but we’ve done our research and come up with the five ultimate party pads on the Las Vegas Strip. Check them out and next time you go down to Sin City with a group of friends, consider pitching in for the ultimate in Las Vegas accommodation.

Bellagio Penthouse Suite5. The Bellagio Penthouse Suite
As usual with all things Bellagio, the penthouse suite is all about luxury and sophistication.

This might not be the best place to hold the Las Vegas blow-out of the century but if you’re looking for a mature, 2,050 square-foot ultra-posh pad to impress the ladies, this might just be perfect.

Bellgaio Penthouse Suite Amenities

  • Wet bar with refrigerator and icemaker.
  • Separate climate control in bedroom. What can I say? Some like it hot.
  • Two master bathrooms with a steam shower and soaking whirlpool tub.

4. Mandalay Bay Suites

Mandalay Bay SuiteWhile I’ve always been a fan of the swank new upscale addition at Mandalay Bay, theHOTEL, the suites are still superior in the original part of Mandalay Bay.

In contrast to the Bellagio’s huge and luxurious suites, the Mandalay Bay suites make up for what they lack in substance with gobs of amenities.

Mandalay Bay Suite Amenities
  • Sleeps six (or more should passing out on the floor be acceptable for some of your guests).
  • Separate parlor with seating for seven.
  • Exceptional view of the Strip, beach/pool and mountains through floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room.
  • Forty-five-inch high-definition plasma TV.
  • Two bedrooms with separate living area that includes additional plasma TVs, iPod-compatible alarm clock radios, and walk-in closets.
  • Each bedroom has a private bathroom featuring imported stone floors and surfaces, 15-inch LCD TV, separate glass-enclosed shower and bathtub.

3. Wynn Salon Suite

Wynn Salon SuiteWynn Las Vegas is, of course, the bomb. It’s the newest of the mega casinos on the Las Vegas Strip and it is, in general, the best.

Marble covers every surface in the enormous bathrooms, complete with soaking tub and separate shower, not to mention your own 13-inch flat-screen TV.

But why is there just one bathroom in this massive, luxurious suite? It’s most likely to dissuade large groups (a.k.a. dozens of drunks like us) from sharing the suite and having the monster parties that we fully intend to have. But don’t worry, the sink is very large and can easily double as a urinal.

The Salon Suites are equipped with a conference table for 10, which is not only great for business meetings but is also a perfect platform for strippers to dance on.

Wynn Salon Suite Amenities
  • Separate check-in from the rest of the riff-raff.
  • Massage room.
  • Terrace with private pools. Yes, you read that correctly.

2. MGM Skylofts

MGM SkyloftsThe MGM Skylofts are, quite frankly, redonkulous.

While they might not quite rank with the rooms at the MGM Mansion (that's another story altogether), unless you're flying to Vegas in your private jet they should more than suffice.

I think I will just let the amenities do the talking here.

MGM Skyloft Amenities
  • Two-story windows. Booyah!
  • Steam rooms in each master bathroom. Booyah!
  • Infinity spa tub with "Champagne Bubbles" massage function. Booyah!
  • Television inside the bathroom mirror. Unnecessary, but still… Booyah!
  • Thirty-two-inch LCD television by every bathtub. Booyah!
  • In-loft espresso and coffee machine. It’s nearly impossible to pass out with 11 cups of espresso in your veins. Booyah!
  • Custom Sony HDTV entertainment system. Booyah!
  • Custom-designed remotes throughout the loft. Control features include TV, DVD, radio, drapes, temperature and lights. Yes, this also deserves a “Booyah!”
  • And finally - "The Immersion Chamber" - where steam and rain gently caress you. Wait for it… wait for it… booyah!

1. Hefner Sky Villa at the Palms

Hefner Sky VillaI don’t really like the Palms. I had to stay there for two weeks while I covered the World Series of Poker and it was like a Super 8 but with more bouncers and fewer knife fights.

The casino is a 24-hour suck-fest, complete with literally hundreds of elderly people regularly lining up for free crap. Why this is, God only knows.

But what the Palms does have is an array of fantasy suites that are truly unparalleled.

The best of the best at the Palms is the Playboy Hefner Sky Villa. This jewel of debauchery sits at the top of the Fantasy Tower and features an indoor Playboy pool that looks out across the Strip.

On top of the basic rooms normally found in Vegas suites, the Hefner Sky Villa also includes: a full bar, a media room, a fully equipped gym (sauna included), and a spa. But sadly, no tennis court.

Anyone with a Roald Dahl fetish will be glad to know that there is a glass elevator that runs between the suite’s two floors. For those with less literary and more physical inclinations there’s an eight-foot round rotating bed, an extra large show tub, pop-up plasma televisions, a poker table, and an outdoor terrace with strip views, sunbathing areas and a bar.

This premier penthouse suite is truly the ultimate Las Vegas suite.

Hefner Sky Villa Amenities
  • A personal concierge will contact you prior to your arrival to assist with your complimentary round-trip airport transfers, as well as show, restaurant and spa reservations. If you feed him raw oysters he will roll over and do a dance.
  • You will be chauffeured from the airport to Sky Villa by a limousine where you will be greeted by your concierge, where, at your discretion, you may ride him like a pony.
  • Twenty-four-hour personal Butler service. I kid you not.
  • Preferred seating at several world-class restaurants and Cirque du Soleil’s KÀ.

Craps can be pretty exciting so be careful not to spill your drink.  Play craps now!
