The Best of the Strip: Sporting Events
by Bodog Casino | Oct 16 2009
Besides having
casino gaming just about everywhere except bathroom stalls Vegas is probably the best vacation spot in the world when it comes to catering to everyone's needs.
Looking for some fun in the sun? Vegas has a swimming pool on practically every building on the strip. Want some scenery? It may be artificial but Vegas has plenty. Need some food? You can get first-class eats from world-renowned restaurants or get all-you-can-eat from practically every casino. Want to get your drink on? You've got lounges, bars, waitresses, hell you can have a shot with breakfast. Looking for some eye candy? The amount of night/strip clubs are endless.
But what about sports? No, we don't mean
sports betting, we're talking about going to a sporting event. You'd be surprised to know that there are some spots to sit back, have a warm beer, cold hot dog and watch a live game.
UNLV Football
OK so they are not the best
NCAA Football program right now - they recently lost to BYU 59-21 - but you won't find a better spot in the state of Nevada to watch a football game. If you act now you can buy tickets to watch them get pummeled by Utah and TCU!
UNLV Basketball
Now this is better. While the football program isn't the best the basketball program remains competitive in the Mountain West division. Expectations are high for this squad in Vegas so expect some fiery fans and players when you check out a game.
NBA/NHL Preseason
Pro franchises are scared to put a team in Vegas, thinking players will start betting on themselves against the spread or something we guess. But they aren't too scared when it comes to having games that don't matter in Sin City. The Lakers recently played an exhibition game there and just two years ago the entire NBA was there for the NBA All-Star game.
Pay-Per-Views
Vegas is all about boxing and mixed martial arts so if you can afford the high ticket prices there are plenty of events to check out every month. Looking for a UFC fight? Vegas has like every second event. Looking to see Floyd “Money” Mayweather pound on another lightweight for 12 rounds? MGM Grand usually has it. Again, you could be laying your rent on the line for decent seats, but Vegas is where it's at for a good pay per view fight.
